Winter Engagement Photo Session - Marita & Sandy
Kicking off 2021 in fine style with this wonderful engagement shoot with Marita & Sandy. The couple got in touch around November 2020 looking to have a photo session, almost in secret!
They were planning an engagement later down the line however saw the perfect opportunity to have some beautiful images made for when their announcement was made official and public. This is definitely an aspect of my work I pride myself on…anything couples want to keep hush hush…the secret is safe with me!
Marita and Sandy got in touch with the lovely people at Kinmount House to ask if we could use their grounds for the shoot, I also suggested a short trip to nearby Powfoot beach afterwards - if there is an opportunity to make use of another location then I’ll make it happen.
With a mixed weather forecast to deal with just after Christmas, we eventually had a window of opportunity on the 29th December. A crisp, frosty morning with some epic sunlight greeted us upon arriving at Kinmount.
I immediately felt some initial shots up the drive at Kinmount would be a great way to get warmed up and let the couple feel at ease.
It was obvious right from the off that Marita & Sandy have a click, their enthusiasm and humour is infectious and they were both brilliant to direct.
We spent a little bit of time making use of the loch as a setting for the next lot of photographs before moving to the walled garden where we wrapped up the shoot for the first location.
A short drive to Powfoot beach followed. We decided on a clean, empty section of the beach and one again had plenty of laughs when the couple injected a little more of their own interpretations of posing.
Having been blessed with some superb morning light to work with, I knew I had plenty of fantastic images to make use of in the edit suite. Within a couple of days I had delivered all the images to the couple which they put to good use by announcing their engagement officially on Hogmanay.
What a great way to set 2021 off with and hopefully I can look forward to more engagement sessions in the future!
Many thanks to Kinmount house for their generosity at allowing us to use their wonderful surroundings for this photo session.
